Acoustic steel guitar

The acoustic guitar has been an integral part of rock and pop music since their beginnings. It is a widely-used accompaniment instrument, exemplified by many vocalists who also play steel-stringed acoustic guitar. It is also a versatile and demanding solo instrument that can play a full piece of music on its own. The strings are played with a plectrum or fingers, or a combination of both. Besides the material of the strings used, the most notable differences between a steel-stringed acoustic guitar and a nylon-stringed classical guitar lie in the actual construction, shape and form of the instrument. Classical guitars are sometimes used in non-classical music, most notably latin music. Students can begin these studies on a nylon-string, steel-string, or electric guitar. Recommended starting at age 7-8.
